Please help.....after worm attack...

I need help. My PC was infected with some weird worm
the other day and my friend managed to clean it off.
But then, my icons screwed up after that incident.
Colors of icons become 256 color....is there anyway
to rectify this as its annoying for me as I am a
web designer, couldn't preview the icons (don't wanna
use 'thumbnail' as it takes too long to view)

How can i solve it?

If color has changed I'd assume its a display setting problem

Yup i did changed to 256 and back to 32 bit but it isnt
helping. even tried reinstalling the driver and direct x,
now even games cant run...
