Please help a novice

My friend is trying to connect to the internet via a dial up modem. When we use the connection wizard it only allows us to connect using a broadband connection that is always on, the first two options (connect using a dial up modem & connect using a broadband connection that requires a user name & password) are awlays greyed out.

He also gets Error 711 and tells us to view the event log

It would normally do that if you have no dial-up drivers installed, or if they are they are not working. Try finding out what the modem is, remove the existing drivers, and then re-installing them
