I have a dell dimension 2400 with windows xp home edition on it. I have been
trying to install Microsoft Office XP standard for two days. I keep getting
the following error message:
Can't write to file C:/Programfiles/microsoft/office10/mstores.dll. Verify
that you have access to this directory.
I went to the microsoft website and it said that I needed to reduce the
cd-rom drive caching. The problem is the instructions they give don't seem
to work for me.
They say to do the following:
STARTUP>SETTINGS>CONTROLPANEL>SYSTEM>PERFORMANCE>FILESYSTEM
The problem is when I click START, I don't have a SETTINGS tab. So I went
straight to CONTROLPANEL>SYSTEM but then I don't have a PERFORMANCE tab in
systems so I can't go to FILESYSTEM.
Someone please help. I need to reduce the cd-rom drive caching. Please give
detailed instructions(I am not a computer person) Thanks.
