Good morning all!
Out of curiosity I just ran the Genuine Advantage Diagnostic Tool
(1.5.0540.0) and was alarmed to see, in red print, Blocked VLK beside the
heading Genuine validation status.
If anyone can explain the implications I would be(maybe) relieved,
Thanks in advance,
Phil

VLKs are blocked by Microsoft at the request of the orginal owner of the key,
possibly because the key was lost, stolen, or misused. Microsoft may block a
key if it notices a pattern of abuse, ie, more installations than the key is good for.

Please follow this simple troubleshooting procedure:

1. Download and install the MGA Diagnostic Tool:
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012

2. After running the MGA Diagnostic Tool, click
on the "Windows" tab and then click on "Copy to Clipboard".

3. Next, visit the following website and create a post in the
"WGA Validation Problems" forum and paste the
results of the WGA Diagnostic Data in a detailed post.
http://forums.microsoft.com/Genuine/default.aspx?SiteID=25

4. A WGA troubleshooting specialist will analyze the data and
recommend an appropriate solution.

VLK = Volume License Key
The advantage of the volume license version of XP is that it does not
require activation - it would appear that your system was built with
the volume license version, and an illegal product key. When certain
product keys are compromised by illegal distribution, MS will block
them - You will likely be unable to download future updates that
require validation.

Phil;
What is the source for your version of Windows XP?
It appears it is Volume License.
If so, unless your Windows is owned and/or managed by someone licensed by
Microsoft to use VLK, you may have an illigitimate Windows installation.
VLKs can not be sold individually.
