Playing video without Media Player in CF 2.0

I've searched the newsgroup for an answer and the only thing I found
was that the unique way to play video in CF is launching Media Player
with the file to play.

Any other real possibility not launching Media Player, indeed, not
launching anything? Don't mind if it's managed or not.
I've read something about this:
http://www.odysseysoftware.com/products_cfcom.asp but I understand
actual CF 2.0 also supports COM interoperability.

Or can Media Player be launched from my application in a kind of
"silent" mode, without opening Media Player itself?
