As a video production company we only need to have a cd that auto runs with a
background slide with company info and an mpg file or similar that will play
back.
Is it too much to ask that we can have a play control to give control over
the playback and have a clip of any length that does not trip out part way
through?
The only option that gives all this seems to be a project authored in
Director. This takes more time and expense. Come on Microsoft a big step
forward was package to CD that gives auto run, can we now have the next fix
of more comprehensive solid control of video?

You can control a media clip if you insert it as a Windows Media Player
object. Have you been having problems with that method? I suspect if
you've had clips trip out half way through then the issue is not a
PowerPoint one.

I have tried insert object windows media player but I end up with the media
player on screen with no clip. I don't know how to tell it to play the clip!?
If this works and reliably it would be good.

Right click on the player, choose Properties and click next to the
'(Custom)' property.
Click on the ... and you've got all the options you could hope for depending
upon the version of Media Player that you're running.
I guess I'm making the assumption that this will work with Package for CD -
that's a feature that I don't use so hopefully someone will confirm or deny,
or you can test for yourself.

Unfortunately, the foundation of Package for CD is the PowerPoint 2003 Viewer
and the Viewer does not support controls.

what about converting your whole presentation into a dvd movie..
easiest way i can think is to hook the pc up to a dvd recorder?

lost?
