How can I save a document in word 2003 as "Plain Text
with Line Breaks". This "save as" feature was available
in word 2000 but I can't find it in word 2003. We need
the document to save this way for FTP up to our
accounting system. Is there anything ASCII equivalent to
this?

Look for the "Text with Layout" option. If you don't have it, then run setup
and make sure you've added all of the converters.

Hi Joy,

Plain Text with Line Breaks is still there, it's just an option within
the Plain Text converter. When you use File > Save As and select Plain
Text, after you click OK you'll get another dialog with some options.
One of them is a check box labeled "Insert line breaks", and you can
choose what kind of break you want -- for FTP, the default CR/LF is
probably the right one (I think Unix apps want CR only).

Hey Jay,

I have installed all converters and I don't get the
second dialog box when choosing "save as, plain text" I
click ok and it just saves with out any line breaks. Any
Ideas?

Thanks for you help
Joy

If you haven't already checked the box for "Confirm conversions at Open" on
the General tab of Tools | Options, try that and see if it makes a
difference.
