Pixillated text using new viewer

Has anyone else noticed that text in presentations is very jagged? I
thought it might be limited to white on black backgrounds, then I thought it
could be limited to those slides that contained animations, but, it seems to
be happening to all text in all presentations.

I don't notice the same at all. In fact, if I show the same presentation on
one monitor in the Viewer, and show it in PowerPoint 2002 on the other
monitor (monitors are side by side) they appear identical. What font are
you seeing this on? Also, what is your screen resolution and color setting
(e.g. 1024 X 768, 16-bit color)? It will be pixelated to some degree on
some systems, mine included, if it is on a slide with animation, but that is
true of PowerPoint 2002 as well.

I am using Arial font, 800 X 600, 32-bit true color. I can't believe the
difference on my machine when compared to the old viewer or PPT 2002. Could
it have anything to do with the fact that I'm using Win 98? It is the
second edition, which I thought was compatible with the new viewer.

(Forgive my spelling of pixelated. Must have been under the influence of
pixies.)

I really can't answer or speculate about the Viewer and Win 98SE. I'm using
Windows XP and don't have access to a Win 98SE machine. I don't see any
difference between the Viewer and PowerPoint 2002 or 2003. If you prefer
the results in the old Viewer, be sure to retain a copy of it. I know that
in my own case there will be times when I will choose to use it over the new
one, though not because of text display. <G>

Colleen,

Any chance you can try one of the presentations on a newer operating system
and let us know the results? I haven't seem any problems, but haven't tried
98 yet (don't have a machine built quite that low). However, I have an
inherent interest in the jaggies and would love to add your problem to my
research.

Yes, I will try that and let you know.
