Just installed a fresh copy of Vista Home from Dell, and everything is fine
except the software for my Sony digicam doesn't work, nor does the driver,
and there is no update from Sony available. It is called Pixela.

Is there a workaround, or do I have to format and re-install XP? The whole
purpose of this new computer was to do my videos and video editing...many
thanks...Mike

Have you tried installing the software and driver in Windows XP
compatibility mode?

Right click on setup.exe or install.exe, select Properties, on Compatibility
Tab, choose XP sp2 from drop down list.

Will this allow to run under Vista? Sony has already marked the Pixela
program as not compt with Vista. I have already formatted and reinstalled XP
so to use the vidcam software, but if you think the Pixela program and the
driver will operate under Vista by doing the Compat thing, I will reinstall
Vista...Mike

There is no way to know unless you try.
Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
Sometimes it works 100%, sometimes not.

Well, I tried, and it didn't work. I reinstalled Vista, which is running
now, and Pixela program opens and then crashes, despite the compatibility
mode changes. Thanks for the info. I'll reformat and reinstall XP tomorrow
as I have to be able to use this program. I hope Sony will get new updated
drivers, but they don't seem to be too interested...thanks again...Mike
