Pivot tables- grouping a particular field

Hello

I'm pretty new to PTs and I'm having some difficulties. I a have database
that needs summarising. The second column has all the dates up to the present
using autofill. I wanted to summarise the data on the PT into a week e.g.1
07/11/2005-13/11/2005 but when I put the date field into the Pivot table I
get each individual date rather than nice little groups
e.g.2 <07/11/2005
07/11/2005-13/11/2005
14/11/2005-20/11/2005
20/11/2005, etc, etc

I know this can be resolved because someone I kindly received a pivot table
from someone of one of these discussion boards in this form.

Right click in the date fild of the pivot, select group, select days (make
sure months are deselected), use the spin button in the number of days box
and set to 7 and click ok, this will group the way you posted

Hi Peo:

I tried that but PT will not recognize my data fields as dates, when try to
group the dates, it automatically tells me to group them as regular data i.e.
i have to define the groups manually.
