pivot table formating

I have "autoformat off" and "preserve formatting" on but excel keeps adding
underlines under the #s in my data fields as indicated below. How can I get
excel pivot to maintain formating of my report whenever I change something or
update?



201-6103-461-74-03 Furniture & Fixtures ____________________________
201-6103-461-74-04 Computer Equipment ______________________________
201-6103-461-74-09 Other __________________________________
__________________________________
 
There are a few format settings that don't seem to stick, and inside
borders are among those.
