Pivot Table - fill in the blanks

I like to use pivot tables to summarize data and then put
the data into another spreadsheet. To do this, I copy and
paste special (values) the pivot table to another sheet.
However, I then need to fill in all the blank cells so
that when you sort the new data, you don't lose the
meaning. For example...

Pivot tables shows
a dog
cat
bird
b horse
cow

etc...

I would copy and paste this to a new sheet and fill in the
blanks like this...

a dog
a cat
a bird
b horse
b cow

Is there any way to get the pivot table to fill in the
blanks for me?

Thank you!

Dunno ; you could do it tho'.

Select the "a,b,c" column, then F5 -- Special -- Blanks -- OK. Type an
equals sign, press the UpArrow, press CTRL+Enter. Copy and Paste Special --
Values to top & tail.

No problem. It was nice to "hear" someone say "I like to use pivot tables".
