I am trying to learn how to use pivot charts. In 1995, if John took vacation
10/15 to 10/20, 11/9/ to 11/19 and 12/15 to 12/31, how would you set up the
query and the pivot chart?

Thank you!

On the topic of your question: it doesn't make any sense - you can't produce
a sensible chart from your data (although given that you're just trying to
see how charts are put together perhaps that's immaterial). What type of
chart are you thinking of producing?

Off the topic: you'll probably be unaware that your question has been been
copied to another newsgroup - comp.databases.ms-access - by somebody who has
gained a reputation as the chief abuser of Access newsgroups. If this
thread should degenerate into a major flame war then just be aware that no
blame for that will be attached to you. (For reference, see

I came back this evening to check if I got any responses to my post and all
find is your abominable message. You are an ignorant, disgraceful jackass to
post your slanderous message in a public newsgroup. Where I come from we call
you a mud flubber. You have less dignity than a barnyard pig that waddles all
day in the mud. You aren't even fit to be called a human being. I did a
google search on this newsgroup and several others and find that you do not
even contribute to newsgroups. All you do is post your despicable slanderous
link. I am going to file a formal complaint to your internet service provider
and I hope that everyone who reads my message here also complains to your
service provider. To all -- email your complaints to (e-mail address removed).

PC Datasheet has done several projects for me. I saw his name in the
newsgroup and I contacted him. The first project was a medium-sized database.
I previously had paid $4700 to a developer to create the database and I was
not at all pleased with the results. PC Datasheet rebuilt the database from
scratch for me and charged me $1800. Since then I have had PC Datasheet do
other projects for me. His fees have always been very fair and I have been
extremely pleased with his work. He is a team player and I enjoy working with
him. Anyone reading my message here, if you have a project that you want done
and are willing to pay to get it done, go to PC Datasheet for fair fees and I
guarantee you you will be happy working with him.

Well thank you Steve. If you ever choose to give up the database work, you
definitely have a career in comedy.

Hey Steve, who the hell is talking about ignorance and jackasses here?
Or did you *really* find someone, who now comes here to tell us all what a nice guy you are?

I urge anyone reading my message to file a formal complaint against this
jackass to his internet service provider at (e-mail address removed). We don't need
asses like this in our newsgroup.

Would you care to point out what abuse there is in the post? I fail to see
anything that could be interpretted as abuse.

If anyone should be filing a formal complaint, it's Rob Oldfield, given the
totally uncalled for diatribe you posted in response to his legitimate
response.

Hi, Martin.

You came across like a ton of bricks in your response to Rob. Since you're
the first customer of Steve's (to my recollection) in the last seven years
to ever defend him here in the newsgroups after discovering him from his
newsgroup participation, your praise for his work is surprising. Your
praise is also likely to be passed over or ignored, since it came after a
heated attack on Rob. If you want the positive aspects of your message to
be heard, then I suggest that you explain your animosity towards Rob, since
you've never had a previous newsgroup conversation with him. Rob was trying
to give you a friendly heads up on a flame war that's likely coming your way
and why it might hit you. Perhaps you think Rob is attacking Steve and you
feel a strong need to defend Steve for whatever he's done for you in the
past.

For example, you wrote that Steve is a team player and you enjoy working
with him. You've worked with him in person? I expect not, since you
repeatedly called him PC Datasheet, not by his given name. Steve's
reputation in the newsgroups is contrary to what you've written about him,
but few of the experts who post in the Access newsgroups have ever worked
with him. Have you worked with Steve for a long time and know him well? I
see that Steve answered newsgroup questions for a few Martins a year and a
half ago (but perhaps these are different Martins) and that may be where you
discovered Steve's contact info:

http://groups.google.com/group/micr...uthor:datasheet&rnum=4&hl=en#adde9a5e8e5e8bd2

http://groups.google.com/group/comp...uthor:datasheet&rnum=5&hl=en#320ed5c830e2ff74

http://groups.google.com/group/micr...uthor:datasheet&rnum=6&hl=en#74521ba9d65ff1f9

Steve doesn't have a favorable reputation in the newsgroups, and since
you're the only customer of his to ever come forward and recommend him (at
least to my recollection), this might be Steve's only chance to be publicly
praised where the praise can be confirmed. If you've had good experiences
with him as a customer, I'm sure he could use a good testimonial that others
can easily find in the newsgroups -- and isn't merely Steve's claim that
he's been praised for his good work. So go ahead and explain why you've
recommended his services but smacked Rob, whom you've never met or had any
dealings with outside of this message thread, with such verbal abuse for
warning you of what's to come.

HTH.

Off topic, but is it just me who's getting visions of all the Roman slave
rebels standing up and saying "No! I'M Martin!"

(with apologies to Kirk Douglas and the Martin who does actually seem to be
Martin)

I came here to declare that I am another "Martin" , totally different from
this topic's Martin.

from now on, in order to identify me from this Martin, I will use my
signicture as

Martin ( Martin Lee) or Good Martin or Martin (good Martin Lee)

: )

Best regards.

Martin ( Martin Lee, I am good Martin) hehe
