I think I got "snuckered"???

I am unable to install downloaded updates for my "Brand
New, sealed, registerable, software (XP).

The message states the Product Key is not valid......and
I should contact the administrator or retailer
immediately for a valid product key......

I think I got taken? Can I get this to work somehow ??

Where did you but windows xp from? If it was a local
retailer then it is probably just a broken windows update
site. Look up the following article number at the
microsoft web site 818018.

Hope that helps

Greetings --

Are you trying to install Service Pack 1a and getting the
following:

The Product Key Used to Install Windows Is Invalid
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q326904

You need to purchase and use a legitimate full retail copy of
WinXP Pro to perform a repair (a.k.a. in-place upgrade) installation,
using the new CD and Product Key.

How to Perform an In-Place Upgrade of Windows XP

Remember, you should also report whomever sold you the pirated
software to the pertinent law enforcement agencies; you've been
defrauded.
