Hi all,

With XP SP2, for unknown reasons I have a pinkish color - RGB
212.208.200 - in all applications: background of menus, framework and
dialog boxes, instead of a neutral gray such as 210,210,210. As I'm
mainly concerned with photo editing, this is rather distracting, apart
from plainly disliking this particular shade.

I tried right clicking on desktop, properties, 4th tab, but repeatedly
"got into devils kitchen" and had to play back an image to restore all
other settinge to normal.

The monitor uses it's proper driver and icm file, and photos are
rendered correctly, ie. white is 255,255,255 - same as the working
area in Word or any other application.

So it's definitely a Windows matter, but how to get rid of the tint?

Thanks in advance

All clear - problem solved!

The problem was with a (free) replacement
LCD monitor with faulty color rendering...

Luckily, the parcel delivery service forgot
to pick up my original monitor, so I have two
of them - both faulty.

Now I'm looking at my original monitor again,
whose original shortcomings are a lesser evil
than false colors.

Next the replacement goes back for repairs.
And with a prestigious name on it too!

Beautiful New World...
