Hi,

I have been using XP for quite a while now but I have never come across this 'problem'. I have recently started work at a new company and the machine I have been given has a strange habit of making icons pink. If the icon is a shortcut then the little curled arrow is pink with the normal image behind it.

It is not an issue of compressed files being shown in a different colour as I have turned this off.

Does anyone know what the reason is for this?

Thanks,

Chris

I've only come across "pink" stuff when the monitor cable is loose from the
back of the machine...give it a wiggle :>

The arrow is produced by an overlaid Icon file; you can select using
TweakUI - one of the XP Powertoys from (if you have installed XP SP1)
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp

If you have not installed SP1, the earlier version can be found at
http://download.microsoft.com/download/whistler/Install/2/WXP/EN-US/TweakUiPowertoySetup.exe

Once installed you will find it in Start - All Programs - Powertoys for
Windows XP

Its Explorer - Shortcut page allows you to select a couple of basic
overlays or a custom one. But in a company environment make sure this
one is not company policy before you fiddle
