Hello,

When I go into Network Diagnostics and do a systems scan the pinging results
show that my IP Address has failed. Can anyone please help me figure out why
this is happening and how to correct the problem? I apologize if this
problem has been answered before, but in my review of the postings I found
nothing on this topic in particular. Thanks.

posting the result of ipconfig /all here may help.

I had the same problem. My hard disk crashed and I had to rebuild the system
and was wondering why my file/printer share does not work now where it used
to function properly. When I ping 127.0.0.1 (local loop around), it works.
But when I ping my own IP 192.168.x.x, it fails.

After mucking around I finally discovered that Norton Internet Security was
installed this time round and it is blocking the traffic. Disabling it is
the fastest way. But if you want NortonIS, you'll have to go to the personal
firewall section and enable the range of IP addresses that you use for your
LAN.

Thank you to both you Kyle and Robert. I haven't had time to go thru and
apply your suggestions yet, but will as soon as possible. These crazy
computers are a constant upkeep aren't they? LOL, now my Windows Logon box
is coming up and asking for my password. Not a real problem, but a total
inconvenience in my book; I don't know how these things just pop up out of
the blue. Thank you again for replying to my problem. The Norton Security
issue does make since as I am obviously still able to access the Internet.
