Dan R.

I have an intersting problem. I can successfully network
a WinXP machine and a Win98 machine w/ shared files,
mapped drives etc. but what I can't do is ping from WinXp
to Win98. The requests keep timing out. What is
exasperating is if I ping the WinXP machine from the
Win98 machine, it happily answers back. I have searched
the knowledge base and tried pratically everything found
there. I have disabled the WinXP firewall as well. The
WinXP machine is configured for Internet sharing and the
Win98 machine has no problem using it. I'm trying to
setup a remote RAID monitoring app and requires an IP
address. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Dan,

Please provide ipconfig information for each computer.
Start - Run - "ipconfig /all >c:\ipconfig.txt" - Open c:\ipconfig.txt in
Notepad, copy and paste into your next post.

Are you sure that there are no more firewalls involved? Ever installed on
either computer?

Cheers,
Chuck
Paranoia comes from experience - and is not necessarily a bad thing.
