No joy, Susan.

Win2k - IE 6.0.2800.1106 with SP1

The # links don't work.

So it's not XP SP2 causing it. It's brain dead software (IE) causing
it.

Hi Al,

Evidently MS in its infinite wisdom has determined that # links are
dangerous when you're viewing an off-line web page. ;) The links work
fine in the on-line web pages. . .

Thanks for the feedback. I've got Win98 on an old computer that's
sitting in a corner. I'll test the CD on that when I get it running.

BTW - as far as I can tell from the info I've read, MS chose to
*implement* the changes only in IE. IOW the "enhanced security" is in
the OS - not the browser. Apparently they *could* extend these "security
improvements" to all browsers. Things may get worse with the next
Service Pack. . .

This is what I came up with on my Win98SE box with IE6 SP1 as well. A link
with the # anchor will simply display a blank page in IE. If I copy the
link, paste it in the address bar and hit "Go", same thing. Chopping off
the # and everything after it at least makes the page viewable.

Grrr....dumb, dumb, dumb.

Yup, yup, yup. ;) I couldn't agree more. Ah well, we now have
replacement web pages for IE browsers. That should cure the problems for
all versions of Windows/IE.

Reminds me of 2001 (the movie) - right click on a .php file in Explorer,
choose "open in Internet Explorer" from the menu. Result? I'm sorry but
I can't do that. . .

But it's for our own good, Susan. ;)
