Susan,

What is the meaning of that poll you just posted. I cannot recall any
discussions in here lately that the definitions of the wares-types
would be wrong.

IMHO it would have been far more better when there would have been a
discussion whether this poll is needed. Experiences from the past show
that it is very hard to reach any consensus on this.... :-(

With kind regards,

Hello Henk,

There was a lot of discussion about the Adware definition last December
- decisions were deferred with a promise that the discussion would be
resumed in 2005. Notice that there would be a poll was give in the
initial post (April 15, 2005) in the thread titled: [PL] Ware Glossary -
Annual Review. A draft of the poll was posted in the ware glossary
thread yesterday. FYI - ATM that thread shows 113 posts.

You're so right. And consensus will continue to change over time, based on
experience, law, participants, and other factors. And just as ACF was
established as an unmoderated NG, nothing done or written now can that --
rules (or not) are the rules. Indeed, even discussion about what is/not
freeware is -- and will always be -- ON TOPIC. Moderators-come-lately can
only be frustrated in their crusade to moderate an unmoderated NG.
