Pictures in powerpoint

I have pictures/images in a powerpoint presentation that will show up when I
print the file in color. They will not show up when I print the presentation
in black and white. How can I fix that?
 
What version of PowerPoint are you using? The detailed instructions depend on
the version.

I am using 2003. I have tried going in and chaging the colors to black &
white and grayscale, that doesn't work!!!
 
What format are the images? Have you applied Service Pack 1? What is the
source of the images?

I don't really know what format or about applying service pack, it was an
existing slide that is being used in a presentation
 
How were the images put on the slides? Did you use:

1 "Insert", "Picture", "From file", or
2. "Format:, "Background", "Fill Effects", "Picture"

I don't know that, I recieved the slide deck already prepared and then had to
put it on our template and now the pictures won't print when I need to make
black & white copies. It will print in color to the color, but I need them
printed in the black and white copies as well
 
Go to Help > Check for Updates and follow the links to Check for Updates. This
will lead you to the Service Pack update.

Hmm. If you set the slide background to be the picture somehow, that'd explain
it. PPT turns off the background when it prints in B/W.

If that's the case and you can't get the original image any other way, add a
blank slide and export it as PNG, then get rid of the original b/g picture and
instead insert the PNG onto the master slide.
 
I see you mentioned changing the black and white or grayscale settings.

Just to double check....

can you select the picture?

If you can select the picture.... have you gone to the "view" menu
choose "black and white"
then right click the picture and choose "black and white"
then choose "how you want the picture to print"
e.g. black, grayscale, etc.

The "automatic" setting is probably the best for general pictures
