Picture viewer - JPG's

Whenever I try to save pictures to the Microsoft picture viewer, the only option it gives me is to save them as BMP files, no matter what format the original. This has only started recently, it used to be happy to save as whatever file type the picture was. Can anyone tell me how to remedy this? Many thanks.
 
Easy to fix. Go to this site, bottom of page and follow directions:

Strange. Do it again and something more.
Open IE6, click on Tools, Internet options.
Click on Delete files button in the middle of the window.
Click on the Advanced tab of this window. Scroll down to Security and check
the box "Empty Temporary...."
Close your browser and then try again.
