Hi,
I operate Windows XP Home & have successfully managed to
transfer photos to my PC from my camera & scanner using
USB & the Windows Camera & Scanner Wizard for some time.
Two days ago I connected my camera only to receive an on-
screen message "USB Device Not Recognized" & the Camera &
Scanner Wizard did not launch.
Using Device Manager & its troubleshooter I have
established that the USB Root Hubs are working correctly
but that my camera is listed as an unknown device, and
further, that no driver exists for the device.
On checking other USB devices I find that my mouse &
printer still function normally but my scanner will not
scan although my scanner programme "Scanwizard" goes
through all the usual functions until I ask it to preview
or scan whereupon it just initiates the process but
doesn't actually do anything.
As a further check I connected my camera to a friend's
computer, also on XP Home, and everything worked
perfectly.
I cannot think of any software changes that have occurred
apart from the normal Windows Updates that are
automatically downloaded to my PC & no new hardware has
been added & none removed.
Can any of you experts out there help a novice to
overcome this problem, I will be extremely grateful for
any advice you can give.
thanks a lot
