picture transfer from xp to vista

I have recently cleaned up my computer with xp ,which had a lot of
pictures on it .I saved it to a computer using xp pro ,now I cannot transfer
them back .Ialso have a computer with vista on it can anyone help me
transfer the pictures from xp pro to either xp or to vista.

I don't have any help for your problem of copying directly from one machine
to another. To just get it done, try using a USB thumbdrive.

If the pictures are important, back them up onto a DVD -- you can organize
them later

i just did a transfer to xp pro

Make sure both computers are networked, move the folder with all your
pictures to the Shared Documents folder on XP and copy them over to Vista to
the Public directory.

Folks I had this same problem just two days ago. My solution came from a MS
KB article I was pointed to on networking and sharing security right here in
this ng. The short of it is that there is likely only the Administrator
'account' assigned to the shared folders on the Vista system, and they
cannot be accessed from other systems on the network. The folders can be
seen, but not opened or used. The Vista machine CAN access the shares on
the XP systems, no problem.
According to the article, Vista won't automatically assign a Guest account
if there is only one user logon account (Administrator) set up. The Guest
account for Shares has to be added manually to each share.
On the Vista machine, open Explorer, open the file tree to a folder you've
shared, right click on it, click on Properties, then the Sharing Tab, then
Permissions button. You likely see only one allowed account there,
"Administrator". Click ADD, name it Guest, set appropriate permissions.
Apply, and OK out. In about 30 seconds, the other systems on your network
should be able to open that folder.
