Picture and Fax Viewer photo order

The Windows and Fax Viewer (Windows XP, Home Ed.) always
displays "next" and "previous" pictures in a folder sorted
by NAME only. I'd like to display them in DATE order but
can't seem to do it, even when the Windows Explorer can
order them as I choose -- in date order.
A different computer, also running XP Home Ed. displays
the same pictures in date order, name order, or however I
choose, but not this one (IBM, Pentium 4, 1.8GHz, 256MB
RAM, etc.)

What's wrong?
