pics in private folder?

Yes, because they won't show
on your website.
The _private folder is a protected
inaccessible folder used by FrontPage
to store hit counter info, form results etc.

In general, Web visitors have no access to files in the
_private folder. So, if you want to hide these images
from your Web visitors, yes, put them in the _private
folder. Otherwise, put them in an images folder.

putting them in a private folder would defeat the purpose of having them on the
net

perhaps you mean a password protected folder - where you determine who can have
access (i.e. family members only, for instance, if they are private family
snapshots - you can use the htaccess feature of Unix servers and I expect a
similar thing with Windows based servers.
