Pics in emails replaced by box with red x in.... please help

I receive emails from Ebay that used to have thumbnails of the item I was
sellng/purchasing.
I have noticed that recently, the thumbnails have been replaced by a small
white box with a red 'X' in it.
I have tried 'right-clicking' on box to save pic but get an information box
displayed sayin2 "The attachment could not be found. It may have been
deleted or blocked (by antivirus software for example)".

I am using AVG Anti-virus with Windows Xp, but have been for ages with no
effect.
I am wondering if it might be something to do with Windows Security Centre.

Could anyone please advise me what I need to change to see the thumbnails
again?
