I have a VPC program by Conexant that ran OK under XP, but won't start under
Vista. It says it cannot run with PAE (Physical Address Ectention) running,
and that I should turn it off. What exactly is PAE, and can it be turned
off? If it can be turned off, how do I do it?

Thanx,

Buddha

Thanx for the reply. Only one problem. The procedures listed on the site
to deactivate PAE involve editing the boot.ini file with Windows XP. I
can't seem to find a comparable file on my Vista Home Premium system. Does
Vista even have a boot.ini file? If so, where is it? Or does the file that
serves this purpose have another name.

To be honest, I have to grope my way through anything later than the old
config.sys/autoexec.bat startup files. From what I can tell, PAE serves a
purpose I don't need since I don't have enough RAM to require it, and if
that's all it does, I'd just as soon turn it off and get some of my XP
programs to run.

Thank you,

Buddha
