Download www.irfanview.com It is a free image program, you can save your photos as
icons. Download the plug-in's too.
Icons are usually very small, you might want to resample your photos.

If you select to rename the photo you should be able to
save it as your-title.ico. This is the standard for icon
file extentions.

easy icon

find the picture that you want to create as an icon. right click -->open with
-->paint, DO NOT EDIT! got to file-->save as-->name it what ever you want **REMEMBER TO ADD .ico TO END OF FILE NAME! **-->SET FILE TYPE TO: 24-bit Bitmap (*.bmp;*.dib)-->save in C:/Windows/system 32.

Now, right click the shortcut of choice and click properties-->then click the shortcut tab-->at bottom click change icon...-->click browse-->My Computer-->Local C:/drive-->Windows-->system32-->scroll, find, and select your picture/icon...(it should look like you picture, if not just search for the name of the file)-->click ok, ok, ok.

That should be it.

Congatulations on your new icon.:user:
