Hi
Is anyone familiar with Microsoft Office Picture Manager or Microsoft Picutre It! Photo 7.0? The reason I ask is I need to resize my images because they download VERY slow, as my report indicated. In Picture Manager I "resized" the images but I don't know how to change the kb size. For instance, the size of my one photo is 288 x 216 (75.7 kb), which is the slowest. When I use the compress size feature, it actually makes it larger. The original size 75.7kb, when compressed 110kb. I know that PhotoShop is a good program but also very expensive. I am hoping I don't need to go purchase one just to edit a few pictures.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, as usual!

It appears that you asked Photo Manager to compress the image for a
Document - compression for Web Pages would make it smaller.

A better choice would be to use Irfanview, downloadable from
www.irfanview.com

Note that repeatedly saving the same image will cause it to deteriorate, it
is best to always work on a copy of the original, and only save once. If
the result isn't suitable, get another copy of the original and start
again.

Although 75k is rather large for a image of those dimensions...I'll bet its not the only reason your page is loading VERY slow. What's the URL again?

A few articles to read:

This is great if you're a beginner:

And I highly recommend Photoshop Elements v.2 NOT the full version of
Photoshop!!
Reading all those will keep you busy for awhile! Good luck!

Eleanor,

This is the first time I've seen you recommend something other than
PaintShop Pro. In fact, I went and got PaintShop Pro because of your
recommendations, and it's great. Many thanks. (and I also have Photoshop
Elements.)

I like PE too, mainly because I'm so familiar with PS. Too bad my trial period ran out yesterday :-(

To everyone that responded to this message
Thank you so much for all of this information. Unfortunately, I asked my question a little too late. I already "inserted" my images that I tried to work with in Microsoft Picture Manager. I obviously should have "imported" the images. However, I still need a photo editing program so that I have more flexibility with working with images. I would like to start another thread to comment on a few things on this site. Please look for the following thread
"To All, From Gail......Thanks For Everything!

You would be totally overwhelmed by Photoshop and it's very expensive. Photo Elements is only around a hundred bucks and it tailored for web design.

(Photoshop for a newbie is a major overkill).

Irfranview is great it does almost everything...and it's free.

| Thank you so much for all of these fantastic links. You suggested NOT to get the full version of PhotoShop. A friend of mine has the program and seems to like it but then she's been doing this for awhile. Why do you not like the full version? Do you think a newbie like me would be overwhelmed with that program? Is that why some are suggesting IrfanView?
|
| Thanks so much!

PhotoElements 2 @ CompUSA is 30 bucks off until August 11 (rebate coupon), so that makes it only 69 !
