I downloaded some stationary to outlook express 6 decided
I didn't want it anymore so deleted it.
Went to search and typed in the name (small wonders)
some exta files came up (the midi to it,picture,etc)
deleted them,but didn't know if I should delete this:
BDS_small wonders[1]EXE...C:/windows/Prefetch
I clicked on it and windows couldn't open it...so went to
web page and it said it was a pf file.
All I want to know is can I delete this?
And it there somewhere I can open these files with
something free?
As you can see I'm new with the computer.
Waiting for reply

Evelyn;

A *.pf file is a Prefetch file. Yes you can delete it. Or you can
wait about three boots and the Prefetcher will delete it for you.

You really have no reason to open a *.pf file.
=================

[[Windows XP monitors the files that are used when the computer starts and
when you start applications. By monitoring these files, Windows XP can
prefetch them. Prefetching data is the process whereby data that is expected
to be requested is read ahead into the cache. Prefetching boot files and
applications decreases the time needed to start Windows XP and start
applications. This information is logged and stored on your hard drive
taking up space and requiring a process to be kept running monitoring which
applications are being run.]]

Don't bother. It is only there as a record of the pattern of files
accessed when the program got opened, so that in future windows can get
them all at once. If you don't try to open the program for a week or
two, the file will get dropped anyway
