Persistent Background

I received a .ppt file from a friend and want to modify the background graphics. I can omit the background from individual slides, or I can delete the background in the Slide Master view.... but I've discovered that there is ANOTHER background behind this background that I can neither select nor delete. I can't get rid of it!!! The "superbackground" is mostly blank, but with graphics that include the company name, and a picture of a sword... which appear in opposite corners of the slide. I cannot get to where I have simply a blank slide, with no text or graphics visible. It's not in the header or footer, nor anywhere else I can think to look. It IS saved with the .pot file, as I tried loading this template into a new .ppt file, and this mysterious undeletable background appears as well. Any suggestions?

If you want, send it to me and I will take a look at it.

I've sent you an e-mail with a "stripped-down" version of the file as an attachment.
Thanks for your interest!

It sounds like the designer has done what I do. That is to insert a slide
sized graphic as the background "picture" of the Master. You can
effectively delete the picture by applying a background fill of white, or a
color of your choice.
