Permanent Registry Fixes

Norton Antivirus says that I have a registry error that was created by a virus.

When I run their "FixReg" program, the "fix" is only temporary ie I have to repeatedly run the "fixreg" program.

Any ideas?

I'd suspect that either you are getting re-infected, or that Norton
Antivirus is speaking with a forked tongue when it claims to have spotted
damage from a computer virus.

Maybe get a second opinion on the virus state of things by using the free
online scanner at http://housecall.antivirus.com huh?

I suspect that the registry error that NAV has identified is legitimate. Their on-line scanner/diagnostic tool identifies it. Secondly certain minor function problems do get corrected after I run NAV's "fixreg" program.

When I previously ran Trend's on-line scanner, it found and cleaned out a virus that NAV never detected, however the registry error persists.

Interesting. What are viruses that the two scanners reckon you have/had?

NAV never did say which virus has caused the registry error (the one that that their "fixreg" program can not permanently fix)

Trend's on-line scanner found and cleaned out the "Joke Flipped" virus

As I said, the registry error persists

Should I download and implement any of the free registry cleanup programs that are out there

Can you suggest any that may permamnently fix this problem
