W2k3 server...

In the My Computer properties, Advanced, Performance tab, what constitutes
a Background process? Specifically, I want to know if the below are
considered background processes.

IIS6 svr
FTP svr
Telnet svr
AntiVirus client
AntiVirus svr
Mail svr (SMTP port 25)
Terminal Server

Thanks to anyone who can answer.

You need to qualify your question. Technically, every
process in Win2K is a "background process".

Each process uses its own set of system resources,
which includes memory usage, one or more interrupt
hooks, services, device drivers etc etc. If you're
asking which processes might affect performance,
that's an entirely different question. Task Manager
will give you a running summary of CPU and memory
usage.
