Performance monitor and alerts?

Greetings and holiday salutations to all.

I have a home network with 3 computers running WinXP and one server running
Win2k advanced server all behind a linksys router connected to a cable
modem.

I wish to use the performance monitor to alert me with a pop up messaging
box if someone on my home network should look into a shared folder on my
WinXP computer.

I would also like the alert to launch a communication application so I can
chat with the person on the home network that is viewing any files or
folders on the WinXP computer.

TIA

This is not a performance issue. System monitor can be
used for alerting when performance monitoring counters
meet specified conditions. However, access to a specific
folder is not such a performance issue.

Most of what you outline could be accomplished with some
custom programming effort, but it is not a select in the user
interface and enable type of thing. You would need, for an
example, to set auditing on the folder and write code that sets
a WMI event on occurrances of interest in the event log, and
the event consumer would then need to ferret out the info about
the network connection, etc. and run the communications routine.
Getting that all set up would not be trivial.
