Performance has Slowed Down Dramatically

Dell PC with Windows XP Home, just over a year old. Also has Norton
AntiVirus and Norton System Works. This PC has been very fast, up until
now. But about a week ago everything slowed down to the point where I want
to throw it out of the window. Two minutes sometimes between click and
response. Hard drive seems to be thrashing and thrashing. Haven't
installed new software recently, so can't be that. Also, did system restore
back to 3/1, but that didn't make a difference.

I do have Gator and Gator's Weather running on the PC, and do have a DSL
connection, that is online anytime the PC is turned on.

Any ideas where to look for a solution?

I would look at removing Gator and any other adware, spyware, trojans
etc, You can use these sites to
do a check of your system. Give them all a try. One or Two sometimes
don't get all the parasites.

check task manger(ctrl+alt+del)hit performance tab. If
it's running at 100% while doing nothing check the
processes tab to see what is running and call tech
support.
