Perfect hardware required for Xp

The perfect hardware is the newest, fastest most expensive available. But
what is really nice about Windows XP is that it runs on such a variety of
the current hardware that many computers presently have.

I'd suggest that you use any new AMD Barton class processor 2.5 gig or above
(my favorite is the Athlon XP3200+ - they're cheap now), get 2-256 sticks of
PC3200 DDR RAM, get the Asus A7N8X-Deluxe motherboard - add a 120 gig hard
drive, a CD/DVD burner and a floppy drive. Put these in the case of your
choice, along with a 400+ watt power supply and you're golden.

There's no such thing as "perfect." More and faster is better
than less and slower. Many people can run XP acceptably with
machines starting around 400MHz and 256MB of RAM. But depending
on what *you* use your machine for and what *you* consider
acceptable performance, you may or may not be happy with that.

Although it might be nice to have a 1.7GHz processor, many people
(including me) with slower processors are happy with the
performance they get.

I have 800 mhz laptop with 512 mb of ram and windowsxp runs perfect so I agree
you don't need a super fast machine. If you can afford than go for it but if
not keep this in mind.
