Due to a legal struggle with Adobe, Microsoft is removing PDF writing
support from Office 2007. However, it plans to offer it as a free
download.
If you want to follow the discussion on this topic, Brian Jones's blog
seems to be best place. Brian Jones is the person in Microsoft
responsible for the new Office XML formats and his blog touches
frequently on political/legal issues involved with document formats:

So they're making it official? I just read that Adobe was threatening them
with a lawsuit.

It does look very official to me, especially when it is on a sanctioned
MS Office blog.
I personally think this is the wrong business move by Adobe, because it
will scare away people from investing into PDF as its future as fully
open standard is now in question. If Microsoft is smart, they will make
sure that its competitor format to PDF, XPS, will be totally open and
also come with a covenant not to sue (similar to the new XML Office file
formats).

My first impression was that it was just a blog, not an official press
release. HOWEVER...

It's nothing more than you can do with PrimoPDF right now with any version
of Office (and any other program on your computer) so it's not really a big
deal.
