PDF reading from XP

Its weird - mine shows the right hand side as fine - but the left hand side
where the normal index appears is grey - it only seeme to occur on all the
work computers - perhaps it is not XP but something else - server or firewall
??- my knowledge is but tarnished brass in the presence of silver on any IT
matters!!!

Matt,
I'm seeing the "Main" when I click on it, but not the "Table Of Contents" or
"Index".

Yes Milt - same with me - all the information we need lies under the index
which is a bit of a problem.

I have spoken to the Lands Dept and they say it is an XP problem - but we
have loaded all the patches and are running everything (we think) to its
potential.

Most peculiar though. And a tad frustrating. Although I am sort of glad you
get the same screen as us - confirms at least that it may be XP.

Regards

Hi

Can you see any of the index or main though?

I think (but am not sure) the underlying pages are in PDF.

Contact the webmaster for the site. They've messed something up. You can
contact them here

- contact the Department of Lands on 02 9228 6713

Will do - they have been dodging the problem for more than 3 months now.

Most frustrating

This site uses the HTML Help ActiveX control to display the table of
contents and index. A recent Microsoft security update (MS05-001) disables
the use of this control on Web sites, so no doubt you've installed the update
on your XP machine but not on your ME machine.

Do you have an Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on the WinXP machine?
The OS has no native capability to read Adobe's proprietary Portable
Document Format.

It is NOT an XP problem. I've tried accessing that web page from my Linux
box, using both Moziall and Konqueror and both behave the same way. They
don't work. :-)

The site won't work properly on Linux boxes because it makes use of a
Windows-only ActiveX control. Nor will it work properly on Windows boxes on
which the MS05-001 security update has been installed, because one of the
functions of that update is to disable the ActiveX control in Web pages.
