Have IE6 with sp2. When I go to download a file ext pdf all I get is a blank
page with the red x in a box in upper left corner. Zip . rar or any other
type of file is no problem. The problem ( I think ) started after sp2 was
installed.Been looking for a solution for a while now. Any suggestions would
be greatly appreciated.

Me too Len! I recently downloaded IE6 service pack and now i get red x's on
web pages. When i used the ie-repair function on my computer it says im
missing two files: CP_20866.NLS & CP_28591.NLS
Help is appreciated!

Hi Len :-)

Try the following and see if it helps:

First, clear your cache
Tools>Internet Options>click Delete Files and see if it's reproducible.

also..

IE browser software defaults Acrobat Reader to "OFF" to display PDF files.
You can restore the setting to"ON" by finding an Acrobat document and then
opening it.

Then click Edit> Preferences> Internet> check the box nect to "Display PDF
in browser"

If still no joy, try the information here:
