I have downloaded a PDF File and it is all code. Can
anyone tell me how to open this file so I can understand
it? thanks

You can view a .pdf file only if you have the free Adobe reader program
installed on your computer. Go to www.adobe.com and install and download
the reader program and you'll be fine.

In other words "PDF" is an oxymoron - it's not a "portable" format at all,
because you can ONLY read it with Acrobat!

There are *lots* of programs that can read and write PDF's. The PDF
format is not secret and is fully documented/published.

However, the most common way for normal use (and easiest to explain for
first-time users) is to direct first-time users to the Adobe Reader.
Adobe Reader is the defacto standard way for Windows users; but there
are alternatives.

No, PDF are a picture of a document that will always look
and print the same whether on a MAC, PC or whatever. The
document is portable because it will look the same on any
platform, something a dynamic page won't do.

The PDF reader is available for free download and is
included on just about 100% of the utility CDs and most
program CDs.
