Depens a little on what you want to convert. OpenOffice.org has had the
ability to create pdf files for several years.

If you own a genuine MS Office copy, a pdf or combined pdf/xps converter can
be downloaded at no additional cost from Microsoft:

CutePDF Writer is a free alternative. It works as a virtual printer,
allowing you to save files from any program as a pdf file:

I use one called cutepdf that is free. Works great under Vista though I

Joy, I'm not sure exactly what you want but take a look at PDF995
(www.pdf995.com). You can get a free copy with advertising, or a no-ad copy
for $9.95 -- not exactly a big cost. And there are two companion products;
you can get the whole package for $19.95. Vista compatible.

I've been using 995 for several years now and it works really well.

Interesting, but the text is somewhat misleading. It actually works only
for Office 2007 versions, despite saying "genuine MS Office".

Sorry about that, you're right. I forgot to write 2007.
