I have networked 2 PCs with Netgear Wireless router. This works, an
can share files and printers ok.

The ROUTER connects to internet ok, but PCs are not recognisin
internet connection automatically - PC1 has to be 'prodded' into
connection by clicking the 'internet gateway' icon in Networking, an
PC2's internet connection is dependent on PC1's.

Netgear support have had me change my configuration (Wireless Zer
Config to manual, and TCP/IP properties to manual) but this has worke
for a couple of boot ups, then back to the problem.

They tell me that now I have to get help from the vendor (Toshiba) a
to how to get both PCs to independently recognise internet connectio
from router, rather than through this 'Internet Gateway'. I someho
fear that Toshiba will direct me to Microsoft, and Microsoft won't kno
what I'm on about!

I am now at a loss.

Can anyone help?

Many thanks in advance

I'm a little confused. Why is the second PC dependent on the first. It's
not necessary when using this type of device.

How is the network setup?

It looks like PC2's Internet connection is dependent on PC1's, Jeremy,
but it really isn't.

The "Internet Gateway" icon on PC1 is your Netgear router. If you
disable the Internet Gateway, you're telling the router to disconnect
itself from the Internet. If you enable the Internet Gateway, you're
telling the router to re-connect itself to the Internet.

Unless you have a specific reason to disable the router's Internet
connection, never disable the Internet Gateway.
