PC will not shutdown properly

Microsoft told me to contact Belkin. USB Printing support
is provided through the General USB Hub. When I disabled
it the printer will not print, but the PC will shut down
properly. Is it possible that the Adapter is defective?

The problem has not been reported. The driver used in XP
is not a Belkin driver but a standard Microsoft driver.
You could try MS support to see if they have heard of any
issues with the usb printing support driver. I'm not sure
how the general usb hub driver is related in all of this.

Thanks for following up on my request. No I have not
receive a reply.

The problem I'm having is with the F5U002 Printer
Adapter. When I upgraded
my PC from Windows Me to Windows XP it locks up during
shutdown. With
Microsoft help we narrowed it down to the adapter. When I
disable the
general USB hub in Device Manager the PC works fine. I
visited your Web
Support site and got the latest installation instructions.

Need to know if this problem has been reported and what
did you'll do to fix
it?

PC Info: Compaq Presario, Model #5716, Operating System
Windows XP Home
Edition.

Thanks, Ben

First of all make sure that all your software is up to date.
Disconnect the hub and all usb devices, uninstall the hub from XP
Control panel.
Check your mother board web site and make sure you have the latest
BIOS update. Then make sure you are running service pack 1 for XP.
There are at least two USB updates beyond Sp1 on the Microsoft site,
download those and install them.
For all your USB devices, check the manufacturer's web site and
download updates if available.
If anything was out of date, then give it another try.
Finally, try disabling "USB Legacy support" in your BIOS. Disabling
this allows XP to control the IRQ that gets assigned to USB and may
help avoid conflicts.
When installing your stuff, do it one at a time and don't continue
until you get each one to work. First do the hub, allow XP to install
it. If it appears to work, then plug in your first device and see if
it works.
Good luck.
