PC turning on by itself

My PC will occasinally turn itself back on. Is there
something in my preferences that I have chosen that is
making the machine do this or do I have some invader that
has downloaded something onto the machine?

Check the properties for the networking device or modem and make sure they
are not set to bring this device out of standby, in the Device Manager.
