PC TROUBLE!!! HEEELP!!!!

Hey i have a Gigabyte 8iPE-1000MK mobo with a P4 2.4 HT with 512 ram and a
radeon 9700 pro card.

I just recently got a major problem on my pc.. When i try to play MMORP
games or DVD movies which are stored on my HD it wont show anything but a
black screen. When ui press alt+Tab it shows for a second and then botos out
in wondows.. reallty annoying.. have only happened the last two weeks but im
totally clueless what i can do to fix this problem..
I have reinstalled Direct X and WMI but in vain.. please help!!!
I have SP2 on but i cant rmember when it came on the pc so i dont know for
sure if it was after it was installed the problems started.
Would be nice if anyone could help!

Or better still, restore to a date when things were working, hope it helps

You don't happen to have a tv out video card, do you? I know on mine, I
have to switch a couple of settings to get it to play the movie on the tv,
which results in a black screen on the computer.
