Greetings
I have a desktop with XP, a laptop with Win98SE and a Laplink printer port
cable.
Is there any freeware to swap files easily?
Thanks
Ted

try it myself, just found it the otherday)

Thanks for that but Iv'e been there.
I stupidly gave the laptop the exact same name as the desktop which sort of
stymied things.
So unless I can change the name of one or the other... I'm stuck
Thanks anyway

W95p to W98SE has "Direct Cable Connection" under Communications,
but check XP as I am not certain if they still retain it.

Direct Cable Connect is a BIG PAIN to use. Only sometimes would the
parallel work, but the serial connection always worked. I have also used
Laplink for DOS, NOT FREEWARE (in a window) and that worked OK, but
slooowwwww. Spend the money and set up a network with a crossover cable.
Should only cost $30 or so for both cards at 100Mbps. - Good luck!
