Is there a way to disable the PC speaker in Windows XP?

For some reason, my computer randomly spits out a long sequence of
beeps every so often.
 
Maybe a better question is what is the long sequence of beeps trying to tell
you?
Overheating, Fan Failure, Disk Failure, etc.
 
In some cases it is only possible (other than yanking wires) is to
disable the BEEP device. Device Manager / Non-plug and ply devices /
beep

Has nothing to do with XP. Has everthing to do with your motherboard
errors.
