PC shuts down by itself.

I'm not sure if this is a hardware or software problem. I usually leave my
PC on all the time. Last night it shut down by itself and there were no fuse
or breaker issues.

I haven't downloaded anything recently like drivers or programs.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Thanks,

A power outage could have caused that when you were asleep. Since power
comes back on when fixed by your local enrgy supplier, the PC cannot.

Thanks, but I thought of that already and the reason I know it wasn't a power
outage is that my alarm clock wasn't blinking. I just remembered that I had
changed my "Power" settings to hibernate a few days ago. I just changed it
back so I will see what happens.

Thanks again for responding.

Often a faulty heat sensor on the motherboard. Try turning off heat shutdown
option in the MB Bios. No a great idea but it beats buying a new MB.

Thanks Ken,

I haven't had a problem since I took it off hibernate but I will remember
that if it does happen again.
