I left my pc to download a game at night, when i woke up i noticed the
pc was off! switched it on it asks which manner would you like to start
up in, safe mode, safe mode with networking etc. i tried all ot them
and this is what happens: the windows XP logo comes with the loading
bar beneath it then the Pc jus restarts on its own and does the smae
thing over and over again. HELP me PLEASE

not good news. you should probably insert you windows cd and go into restore
mode. once you have access to your c drive you should delete the files in
your temp and maybe the game directory too. if you have an autoexec.bat file,
delete that too. maybe do a check disk too. u probably dont have anymore
disk space or you downloaded a virus with the game..... research
microsoft.com about windows restore, repair to get an idea of how to use your
windows cd to restore. you can also repair your windows system by selecting
new installation from your windows cd. the option will be provided for new
instal or repair

Have you tried "last known good configuration that worked"?

Have you added hardware recently?

You could try reseating your RAM or if more than one ram stick remove one,
boot if still nothing remove the other and boot. try different slots.

Some suggestions. Try them in order listed.

Disable automatic restart on system failure. Just to see if you can get a STOP code, or if you can login to Safe mode, then
it's possible you can restart the system in normal mode later on.

When the pc is booting up (after the BIOS has done its POST test and
before Windows starts loading),
Tap F8 Function key to get bootup options. Tap & keep repeat tapping F8 !

You will actually see "Disable automatic restart on system failure" as an option .
Select that and give it a try. This option is available if you have XP service pack 2.

Once restart on failure is disabled, you may get a STOP error with
text --- at the next Windows startup.
Write it all down, and then start searching for the final solution.
And post back here with the STOP code & text.

B) If no stop code, and still unable to login to Safe mode, reboot pc, repeat the F8 tap, select the option with "VGA mode".
See if you can login.

If still unable to get into any mode......
Last, C) I'd do F-8 Function-key selective bootup and try hard to select Last Known Good.

When the pc is booting up (after the BIOS has done its POST test and
before Windows starts loading),
Tap F8 Function key to get bootup options. Tap & keep repeat tapping F8 !

Once restart on failure is disabled, you may get a STOP error with text --- at the next Windows startup.

See Aumha.org page on STOP MESSAGES
http://aumha.org/win5/kbestop.htm

Best of luck. Do post back here with details.

doesnt sound like a virus from a download, if u downloaded something and left
it downloading even if it was a virus u would have to install open or unzip.

Sounds like over heating and one or more computer components has gone "bad
da boom"

Me thinks that the HD could be currupt which is why eveything works fine
untill a part of windows is being loaded the restart.

hopefully its something simple and cheep like the fan on ur psu being broken
which is why as soon as it try's to load windows the temp rises and the comp
restarts, shuts down as a safty feature to stop u from damaging a part of ur
hardware

hi

thanks for your sugestions, however, none of the options worked neither
does the boot up cd work, it opens up this blue page page whcih says "a
problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent
damage to your computer" this occurs just before the boot cd starts or
half way through booting up. Any more sugestions?

Hi mojo,

Go into Computer BIOS at Boot. Restore Defaults. Make sure that the CD
is first in line to be booted from. Save and Exit.

Boot from the Windows CD. Try a repair first, then if it doesn't work,
then do the 2nd repair option, before you Format and reinstall the operating
system from scratch.

the blue error screen appears half way through the reboot, and tells me
to restart if this is the first time ive seen this screen otherwise
turn off any antivirus , but everything in my hardrive has benn deleted
so where is the antivirus?? there is absolutel nothing left on my pc
anymore becasue it formatted my HD but then did not install windows
fully!
